On the islands of French Polynesia, the Gardenia Tahitensis - colloquially called "tiare tahiti" - is cultivated in many places. On the pictures you can see a plantation on Moorea.
The flowers are harvested in the early morning and used, among other things, for maceration in coconut oil. From this, after 12 days, the wonderful Monoï de Tahiti oil is obtained. As you know, our Monoï is produced in Tahiti and bears the "Appellation d'Origine" seal as proof of its originality. Tahiti and Moorea, as well as the famous island of Bora-Bora, all belong to French Polynesia, neighbor of Easter Island, just under 4,000 kilometers away 😉.
