MONOÏ DE TAHITI

The best thing that can happen to a coconut.

French Polynesia, better known in our circles as "Tahiti" - this being the main island of over 100 islands - is a popular vacation destination in the South Pacific. From here comes the famous Monoï de Tahiti, made from two treasures of nature:

Tiare Tahiti - gardenia tahitensis

Aromas de Tahiti

The Gardenia taitensis, also called Tahitian Gardenia or Tiare Tahiti, is a species of plant in the Rubiaceae family. It is the national flower of French Polynesia and the Cook Islands.
The plant originates from Melanesia and Western Polynesia. The Maohis - the inhabitants of the South Seas - introduced it to the Cook Islands, French Polynesia and possibly Hawaii during their long sea voyages.
The Tiare flower - the emblem of French Polynesia - exudes a lovely and enchanting fragrance.

coco

"The white gold of Tahiti" - the Coconut (Cocos nucifera) - is a typical fruit of Tahiti and its islands. It provides oil of incomparable fineness. This golden oil, rich in essential fatty acids, is particularly appreciated for its nourishing and moisturizing properties.

Gardenia Tahitensis

The inhabitants of the Pacific islands use the wonderfully fragrant flowers to make their flower necklaces, called "egg" in the Cook Islands, "hei" in Tahiti or "lei" in Hawaii.

According to Pacific Island traditions, wearing a flower indicates relationship status. A flower worn on the left ear means that the person is taken and behind the right ear that he is still available.

The gardenia tahitensis is also used to produce Monoi de Tahiti, a unique oil perfumed by nature and made by infusing the flowers in coconut oil.

Production of Monoï de Tahiti

The Monoï de Tahiti Anakena is a macerate of Tiare flowers (Gardenia tahitensis) in refined coconut oil (Coprah) and is produced exclusively in French Polynesia. For this purpose, the tiare flowers are picked before dawn and immersed for 12 days in the coprah oil with a minimum concentration of 12 flowers per liter, using a special method of enfleurage. This process takes place at room temperature, which means that the oil is not heated in the process. During this process, the flowers release moisturizing and nourishing ingredients and the typical fragrances into the oil. After this time, the macerate is allowed to settle for 24 hours. It is then filtered, purified and a natural antioxidant (tocopherol solution) is added.

Good to know...

PLEASE NOTE: Compared to more domestic oils - such as olive oil - our monoï oil, which consists mainly of coconut oil, has a slightly higher melting point. Therefore, it is still solid at room temperature and must first be warmed to about 24°C before use. Simply place the bottle in warm water for a few minutes and the oil is ready again for your beauty and massage applications.

The product does not contain sunscreen.

Hand cure

We would like to give you a very special care tip with our wonderful Monoi oil from Tahiti - in the truest sense of the word:
Many people suffer from dry hands, especially in the transitional period, including people in medical professions, which is caused by the frequent wearing of gloves.

Here, our Monoi oil Anakena provides a wonderful remedy: simply put a little Monoi de Tahiti oil in a bowl and place the hands in the soothing oil for a few minutes. While doing so, the palms and fingers can be massaged all the way to the nails. This little "hand cure" can be used very well before going to bed, so that the remains of the oil can still be absorbed into the skin - this relaxes the hands and nourishes them at the same time.
