Anakena is located on the north coast of Rapa Nui—a beach of extraordinary beauty and great cultural significance. Anakena is a unique place, vast and quiet—with fine sand, turquoise-blue water, and the moai of the two ahus, Nau Nau and Ature Huki, in the background.

For many visitors, Anakena is one of the most beautiful places on Easter Island. For us, it is more than that: it is our origin, and it is a great honor to be able to use this name for our brand.

According to legend, the Polynesian king Hotu Matu’a landed here with his companions. Anakena is therefore considered the place where the history of Rapa Nui began. Landscape, myth, and culture merge here in a special way—so directly that the significance of this beach is immediately apparent. In the Rapa Nui language, this place is called Haŋa Rau o te Ariki.

A brand with authentic origins

Anakena – Natural Cosmetics was founded by Petra Klimscha founded. She is originally from Munich and has been living on Rapa Nui for many years. Her personal connection to the island gradually gave rise to a cosmetics brand that is now available in Germany and Chile is available.

It all began with handcrafted soaps and a deep exploration of natural ingredients. This led to the development of a high-quality skincare line, inspired by Polynesia and formulated to meet modern quality standards.

Anakena – Natural Cosmetics products are not just run-of-the-mill cosmetics. They stand for a unique origin, carefully developed formulas, and a skincare experience that combines sensuality and quality.

Why Anakena?

The name was deliberately chosen from the very beginning and is also our registered trademark in Europe, Chile, and the United States.

Anakena represents a real place—a beach where the history of Rapa Nui remains visible to this day; a landscape that doesn’t need to „shout“ to be unforgettable; and a founder who doesn’t just tell the story of this island from afar, but has lived there for many years.

In the cosmetics industry in particular, origin is often emphasized. At Anakena – Natural Cosmetics, it is part of our brand identity. Not only our inspiration but also some of our special ingredients come from Polynesia—from its nature, its scents, its atmosphere, and its unique way of life.

Natural Cosmetics Between Rapa Nui and Munich

Rapa Nui is located more than 3,500 kilometers from the South American mainland. This isolation has given rise to a culture that remains remarkably distinct to this day. Language, traditions, the landscape, and a respectful approach to natural resources shape life on the island.
