Our history - How ANAKENA came into being

Rapa Nui. Easter Island. The most remote inhabited place in the world, in the middle of the South Pacific. It was here - in the village square of Hanga Roa - that the story of ANAKENA - Natural Cosmetics began.

Rapa Nui Natural Products„ was the first natural food store on the island: a place where locals and travelers alike could find high-quality, natural products for their body and well-being. The range was colorful and lovingly handmade by us: Jams made from island fruits, chocolates in the shape of the famous moai, gourmet salts with organic herbs from our own garden. Rapa Nui was in every detail.

The passion for natural cosmetics began very small, in their own studio: with handmade soaps, refined with herbs, fruits and algae from the island. Soon followed bath salts, solid perfumes, massage oils, creams, lip gloss - all under the name Anakena®, all with a deep connection to the raw materials of the South Seas. The response from the local people and travelers was so great that it made one thing clear to us: there is more to it than meets the eye. Much more.

This spark became a decision: ANAKENA was to grow - as a genuine, professional natural cosmetics brand, inspired by the beauty, fragrances and power of Rapa Nui and manufactured to the highest standards. The search for the right manufacturing partner - one that combines first-class natural ingredients, strict quality standards and genuine respect for the environment - was challenging. In 2018, we continued along this path and founded ANAKENA in Europe, based in Munich. Since then, we have been producing in Germany and France - according to strict quality standards, with natural active ingredients and dermatologically tested. Our European collection - Shower gel, Body lotion, Face cream and the legendary Monoï de Tahiti - brings our Polynesian products into every bathroom.

Back then, ANAKENA was a brand founded at the kitchen table on Easter Island. Today they are unique products that are sold on three continents.
