From February 3 to 11, the annual cultural festival Tapati Rapa Nui takes place on Easter Island. After 2, 5 years of "tapu" - a self-imposed closure due to the pandemic - the island is ready to receive visitors again since last August.
There used to be up to 15 planes a week, currently there are 4. The difference is noticeable. For the island's beleaguered economy, the upswing is very curbed, but for the small island community and the ecosystem of this fragile islet, the reduced flow of visitors is a boon.
This is the poster for Tapatifest 2023, drawn by local artist Gustavo Bórquez Paoa, who has also done many illustrations for our brand.
