Anakena Bay was once part of the territory of the powerful and influential Mata Miru tribe on Easter Island, which provided the Ariki Mau, the spiritual leader, and traced its lineage directly to Hotu Matu'a.
In the photo you can see one of the two large Ahus (ceremonial platforms), called Ahu Nau Nau, with seven Moais (the colossal stone statues - nicely visible in the picture).
A moai is also part of the logo of our cosmetic brand Anakena. With much respect and dignity we depict him on our products.
